I’m about to shut down my computer for the last time here in Salinas, so that it can cool down before we pack it up.
My wife and I fly out of San Jose at around 9:30 a.m. tomorrow (Sunday). It’s about a three-hour flight to Dallas-Fort Worth. It’ll be our first time ever in First Class. We thought it would be nice to have a little more room for my wife. She’s flown twice to Taiwan since her stroke, so this shouldn’t be too tough for her, although she’s weaker than she was three years ago.
Yesterday was devoted to separating out what we’re going to carry with us, what can be safely discarded (like warranty cards for appliances that we threw out nine years ago, a copy of my 1974 income tax, North Carolina vehicle registration papers from the same year, and so on), and packing the rest. Just my personal books took 21 1.51-cubic-foot cartons. Boy, is my back sore! I think I may be a bit out of shape.
I expect that I’ll be back on the 'Net pretty quick like. Not only is my younger son hooked up with his PC, but my elder son took an old iMac out on his last trip (from which he just returned this morning), so I may be able to use that. But the next time I post, my location will be Lantana, TX, instead of Salinas, CA.
So, Happy Holidays to all. See y’all in a few days.
You might want to check with the airlines tomorrow morning. it was reported tonight on CBS news that it snowed on the Gulf coast of Texas for the first time in a hundred years and it was snowing all over Texas also.
The end is near but a new beginning is closer! Have a safe trip and great new beginning.
For a moment, I thought you were privy to information that had not yet made the news.
Anyway, your thread topic reminds me of the cartoon about the long-haired religious fanatic carrying a sign reading, “The End Is Near” and he steps out in front of a bus.
The trip went very well–even the airline food was good. (My son says that’s because we flew first class–a first for us.) As soon as we arrived at the baggage carousel, my suitcases and guitar showed up. Can’t beat that.
Also, the Dallas area is warm (around 63 degrees F. today) and fairly sunny, with no sign of snow.
The only thing I regret is that I didn’t bring my coffee grinder, as the stuff I ground at the supermarket last night is producing coffee that looks more like tea. Oh, well. Into each life, some rain must fall.
Well… yeah… but it shouldn’t fall from your coffee maker! LOL!.. I like it strong… almost thick, LOL! Ah well… there are worse things… I’m pretty sure I remember a few…
It was actually cold here for a spell..it snowed 2 days before Christmas, and stayed on the ground until last night. which is when the last of it melted out of my yard..you just barely missed it
The current issue of the Reader’s Digest has a full page ad, about the end of the world being very near. It says that the USA and Brittain will be destroyed, and a new federal Europe will arise to persecute people of faith everywhere.
The ad offered a book that would help a believer through these things that were immediately about to come to pass.
However, the ad also said, “Allow 4 to 8 weeks for delivery.”
This is a great comfort to my soul. I guess this means that we have at least 4 to 8 weeks before the End.
