I don’t know if any of you know this, but the office supply store Staples will deliver stuff to your house with no additional charge.
I went down there to look for a new computer desk. I saw one that I liked, but then I realized that my wife would perceive this as a furniture purchase, for which she must be consulted. So I went home and described it to her. Then I thought, “Wait a minute, I bet they have a website with a picture of it!” So I looked it up and sure enough, there was the desk. For $20 less than it was in the store! I go to check the shipping charge and THERE IS NONE! So I order the thing on line.
It arrived the next day (today) in a Staples truck from the local store. They pulled it out of the stockroom and drove it up here. And charged me $20 less than they would have if I went down there and picked it up myself!
I told the driver and he just shrugged. So I gave him a fiver and told him Merry Christmas. I’m still $15 ahead.
Moral of the story: check out whatever dot com before you buy it in the store.
