OT - Roy, What kind of knives do you make?

Hey Roy, my dad is a journeyman smith in the ABS. What kind of knives do you make?

Guthrum,
That is very cool… Check out my webpage that will give you an idea of what I am all about…Just started making folders last year…

Nice work, Roy. Here is my dad’s site.

Guthram, your dad really has a good eye for those old-style bowies. Not enough people make those.

Until it got stolen, one of my favorite library books was The Antique Bowie Knife Book. I don’t carry or make (spare time maker with no spare time to make knives anymore) bowies, but I have a real appreciation for them.

Rene, I still covet the pink ivory/damascus. . .maybe for Xmas Tyghre will consider it!

Tyghress,
I know you love that knife…but that one went in December last year but I could always make another one for you…Plus I have lots of new types of Damascus…and I am in the progress of building a wood stabilizer…to stabilize my own woods to prevent cracking, shrinking…once I have that perfected…I have the nicest piece of pink ivory with your name on it… :astonished:   :astonished: sometimes I am such a tease…

I believe knives and guns and weapons in general are extensions of the penis and people who buy them to feel powerful really want a bigger penis deep down. That’s why most knife collectors are men, though some women want a bigger penis too.

   :astonished:  :stuck_out_tongue:  :astonished:

that was excellent, but hey, I don’t own any special knives…

If that were the case then collectors would buy increasingly larger knives or guns over time. Most collectors specialise in one particular style\brand\type of knife which pokes a hole in your theory.

My theory, I think they secretly want more than one

How original!

How sarcastic.

Why stop with guns and knives? How about church steeples, cigars, and whistles? Knee-jerk Freudianism is a lot of fun, but it’s a bit dated.

Because, you see…

Because.

Amen to that, brother!

I like swords, especially samuari, spears and jousting lances… what does that say about me? That is retorical… okay.

And I sold my collection of nude scrimshaw Alexander hunting knives on eBay when i lost my job. They were gorgeous. I am heartbroken. I still have my big horn sheep sub-hilt fighter though. That stays with me, as does my ORiordian.

Freud was, in fact, worthless. If you are looking for insight, read Jung, or Joseph Campbell.

Actually, I didn’t even know that was a Freduian theory. I only vaguely know who he is. I’d just heard it somewhere and decided I believed it.

I actually have some knives. They’re pretty.

I own one knife, a spyderco civilian. I only wear it when I feel like I’d need to use it… its a freaky feeling.
Luckily for me Ive only had to wear it twice, and I havent had to use it yet.
