OT: possible irish-themed movie tonight on Hallmark

Just caught a commercial that had uilleann pipes going in the background, it was a Lunasa tune that I don’t recall the name of offhand. Anyway, the ad was for a movie called Captains Courageous on the Hallmark channel. It said 8 PM tonight, though I don’t know how national Hallmark channel is. I’m in Pacific time, so a bit over two hours from now.

I found a description on the Hallmark channel website:

“After falling overboard from a luxury liner, a spoiled young man ends up on a fishing schooner under the dauntless guidance of Captain Troop. He learns some important lessons about loyalty, decency and respect in this adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic.”

Captain’s Courageous isn’t Irish-themed in any way. The original is a classic with Spencer Tracy (who won an Oscar) and Freddie Bartholemew as the spoiled rich kid.

I haven’t seen mention here but I watched Agnes Brown the other nite. It was so funny because I was whistlin during the commercials and two of the tunes I was whistlin, Brogan Mazurka and the Siege of Ennis, were on the soundtrack after the break. It’s a good movie even tho its technically a “chick flick.” Very moving.
