OT: Poetry

A. Just finished my new chapbook: “s e v e n s t a r s”.

B. Got this letter:

Dear Dale:

Congratulations on having been selected as a contributor to Invitation to Poetry, the new Favorite Poem Project anthology (edited for former 2-term U.S. Poet Laureate Robert Pinsky, with Maggie Dietz) that will be published by W.W. Norton & Copmay in Fall 2004. The poem you chose, A.R. Ammons “In Memoriam Mae Noblitt,” will appear in the book, along with your letter to the Project regarding the poem.

There are just over 200 contributors–selected from the 22,000 people who wrote to us.

You will receive a complimentary copy of the book when it is published and it will be widely available in bookstores and online booksellers.

Thank you for your contribution anbd congratulations.

Sincerely,

Maggie Dietz

In case you guys don’t know about the Favorite Poem Project, you need to visit their website at http://www.favoritepoem.org/.

Good for you, Dale. :party:

PS Got to thinking a little…

What about a page here somewhere of C&Fer’s favorite tunes, with short commentary from each person submitting? Here’s what I imagine:

    1. the tune submitted in abcs but displayed on staff as well;
  1. a sentence or two about why, from a musical standpoint, the tune is a favorite;
  2. a sentence or two about where and from whose playing the tune was learned, and any other brief personal thoughts about the tune

Online we really can’t duplicate the elbow-to-elbow social aspects of ITM, of course, but this might be one way to experience the personal associations. I volunteer to coordinate the page, or help to, if it ever takes off.

Wow! Congratulations, Dale.
