Hello All: I know PayPal has been discusse many times before, but I have a question, and I know that MANY of you have lots of experience using PayPal.
I’m interested in puchasing Teada’s CD from their website. In order to do so, I would need to set up a PayPal account, because that is how they sell their cd’s.
So, I was wondering if experiences in general found this a safe way to go? Is it something I would need to worry, or is my information safe?

I’ve never had a problem (touch wood) with Paypal in the 3 years+ I’ve been using them. In fact, I just ordered a box set of Chieftains’ CDs this afternoon using Paypal.
It certainly makes life a little easier when ordering stuff internationally, and on eBay…
If you take the normal precautions with passwords, and read Paypal’s security advice, you shouldn’t have a problem at all Tom.

We had a nightmare situation with Paypal several years ago and I’d never use them again for anything. Several people have said they’ve improved, but I’m not going to be the one to test them out.

That’s a forum for you Tom… I guess unless you’re seriously going to count pro and con postings, you’re really on your own with this one. Bit like whistles really, there’s those that like Brand A and those that hate it, and vast range in between.
Does that website offer any other payment methods? Maybe you could email them or summink and ask about posting a cheque etc?

I guess you are right Gary, like most things in life, folks have different experiences. It looks like they only accept payment through PayPal. If I decide against that route, I’ll try looking around a bit more to see if I can get it from an alternative source. I know I can get it through Green Linnet, but that brings up other issues for me.

I have never had a TRANSACTION issue with paypal. My money has always gone where intended or been received as intended.
I am a person that receives money through them and I think their fee structure is out of whack, but it is their business. Some of their policies I don’t agree with either.
The long and the short of it is Paypal serves a good purpose. They are owned by Ebay as well and intimately linked with them.

I’ve used PayPal for 500 or so transactions, mostly selling, but some buying, too. Never a problem.

Same here. I think it’s a lot safer than sending someone a check.
As a buyer there is almost no risk using PayPal, especially if you use a credit card.
Most of PayPal’s bad rep comes from sellers who were defrauded by fraudulent credit card transactions that were later reversed. PayPal offers little or no protection to such sellers (which is why some sellers have stopped accepting PayPal). PayPal also changed their policy so that they now can dip back into your checking account for any funds they’ve wire transfered to you that have been reversed because of a fraudulent CC transaction (or even just a buyer complaint) and that can really mess over a seller when their bank starts bouncing checks…
