I was trolling the channels on Sunday afternoon and caught a slice of “The Road to Singapore” with Bob Hope, & Bing Crosby.
They were playing & singing a song about the “Sweet Potato Piper”, using sweet potato (shaped) ocarinas.
We know of many films featuring whistle playing, but is this the only known instance of ocarinas in a film?
No, they also played ocarinas in “Girl Crazy” starring Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland.
Is Zelda a tv show/movie?
Well there are ocarinas in Zelda.
I recall an Ocarina player in “Willow” and a Double Ocarina Pipe played by a Gelfling in “The Dark Crystal” as well as an alien Bug playing a Tube Ocarina in “The Star Wars Bar” scene.
How about this. Maynard G. Krebs played ocarina on the 1950’s/60’s sit-com Dobie Gillis.
Here’s a list of movies in which the musical saw has been used. I wouldn’r really have thought that a musical saw would be in an Ingmar Bergman movie.

Yes, Legend of Zelda was an 8-bit Nintendo game. It featured a whistle or recorder–some sort of end-blown duct flute. A more recent sequel produced by Nintendo was Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. This was one of the most popular games produced, and spawned interest in the ocarina.
Also Zelda was a character on Dobie Gillis.
Zelda Gilroy never played an ocharina, but she sure played Dobie like one.

The Tube Ocarina is also known as a Flutophone or a Tonette and there is a tube Ocarina with English Taylor System fingering called the Puny-Tune. The best 10 hole Budrio style, in my opinion, is the Aketa(japanese).

The Flutophone is the reason I play a Copeland today. I pity the poor Tonette player - fat and ugly and mediocre tone to boot. God bless the Flutophone!
