OT: Need help with music and slide program

Does anyone know how to add music, like a wav, mp3 or wma to Power Point presentations? I figured how to add sounds to individual slides, but not background music to a complete show. I need to put together a program before September 11.

TIA,

Gary

If it were me I would probably run the sound file in a background program (winamp, windows media, etc) and either loop it or make sure it is long enough to cover the whole presentation.

The other thing you can do is convert your slideshow into a Flash presentation, and then you can cue the “slide” changes to the music. Depends on if you want the slide changes to be automatic, or if you want the ability to fudge on the time if need be.

What version of Powerpoint? The newest one is pretty multimedia-friendly.

I have both Office 97 and Office 2000 & could not get it to work on either version. I considered using a seperate player like Winamp or Media Player but figured I’d have to use a macro to play both in unison.

Flash was used for the links I included above. The Shockwave Flash player I have on my computer will not compose. Can I download it somewhere?

Play in unison?

If you have particular sections of a song for each slide, you can embed them in each slide like you said. But if you have one continuous “elevator music” type background thing going on, make your mp3, put 5 seconds or so of blank space in front of it, a little quiet “beep” tone to tell you when to hit SlideShow, and let 'er rip. =)

Side note - once in the late 80’s my mom commandeered the kitchen table for several weeks/months and made a slide show of some family history. Now THAT was a production! She took 35mm slides, projected them onto a screen, and played a cassette tape sound track that she had developed, capturing it all on video.

Now THAT was a major operation! I was too young to help, unfortunately, but it was amusing to watch.

We also ended up with a blooper reel of when things went wrong, like the projector falling over, and cats jumping on the table and walking in front of the image

I have powerpoint 2000. It’s been awhile since I’ve used it but I think if you start on your first page and go to “insert” on the menu then “movies and sound” and choose which option you want (from gallery or File) and chose what music you want. Then right click on the little Icon it inserted on your front page that looks like a speaker and then choose Edit sound, then check the “loop until stopped” box and that should do it. I think.

Okay – I was thinking Producer, but it only works with 2002. This web page might help:

tkelly,

That looks like the info I need. Apparently, I need to do that in the master slide.

I’ll report back later.

Thanks to everyone!
