OT-My Mom's 80th Birthday: Mom's reply!!

Sorry for the OT, but I’m not sure how many people here visit the Pub…

June 19th will be my Mom’s 80th Birthday.
She’s really an amazing lady: still drives, maintains her own home, is very active in her Synagogue and community etc, etc. At her ripe young age she also has a pretty active life online-- she just got a DSL connection 'cause dialup was too slow for her. No moss growing on this babe!
Due to a family wedding in early July, we decided to have her big birthday bash in May. Tons of friends and family were there, and my neice and her boyfriend made a wonderful mini-documentary about my Mom.

That’s my Mom and sister Judy (sorry guys, she’s taken… :stuck_out_tongue: )

After the party and about a month elapsing, I don’t want my Mom’s actual Birthday to be too anticlimactic. So here’s the favor: if you feel so moved, could you send my Mom a Birthday e-card on JUNE 19th? Send it now with a delayed delivery if it’s easier to remember. Her name is Eleanor, better known as Ellie, and her e-mail is IMARYMA@aol.com .
One of her satisfactions in life is the kind things people have said about my whistles. Every Jewish mother needs a chance to kvell (swell with pride). This would mean a lot to her. Thanks!

PS-- if you’d rather stuff her snail mail, e-mail me at brewerpaul@aol.com and I’ll send her info.

Pardon my saying so, but I really don’t think it’s a good idea to post your mother’s picture, name, home address and email address on the Internet!

Well, at least I left off her SS # and her favorite passwords…

You’re right, of course, so I’ve edited the message. Thanks Cran.

You can write the White House and get a birthday card from the President for her 80th.

That’s not a person I think she’d care to hear from… :stuck_out_tongue:

I think you should post this picture on the Cutie Pie Thread!!! I hope I look that vivacious and young at 80!

Cheers,
Kathy

Bump

Thanks in advance, and please remember to send your e-cards to arrive on 6/19, not before. Many thanks.

I’m all primed and ready for Mom’s salute.

My mom just e-mailed me and asked me to post the following:

It was so wonderful to receive 80th birthday greetings from so many of you! And I was particularly touched by the many lovely things you had to say about Paul — not that I was surprised. He has been special since the day he was born and always did beautiful creative things with his hands. I remember the many hours he used to spend down in our basement, building complicated airplanes and ships with full rigging. His sister was sure that he was down there sniffing glue but I knew better! I share your enthusiasm for his beautiful whistles, which he plays for me whenever he visits.

Again, let me thank each and every one of you who took the time and trouble to send me the thoughtful birthday wishes. Whistle people are very special people indeed!

All my very best —
Ellie Busman (Paul’s proud mother!)

Kvell, indeed.

I’m glad she enjoyed the emails.

Cheers,
John

What a gracious thank-you, Paul! Your mom seems to be a delightful person. You’re very fortunate!

I think so

Cool lady… but who’s surprised?
