Thanks, Talasiga, for the general knowledge quiz. I always liked school. At first I thought that the correct answer was “all of the above”. I got through college favoring that answer to multiple choice questions. I wasn’t sure about answer two. My digeridoos don’t have any finger holes at all, so I thought that it may be possible for some Australian flutes to have the finger holes on the bottom of the flute, although it seems to me that this would be a little awkward. I have no direct experience with answer three, so I can’t make an intelligent guess. After a lot of consideration my final answer is number one.
Yes, I do realize that the two hemisperes on this planet takes turns having Summer. It has something to do with the tilt of the rotational axis of the earth with respect to the sun, however, whenever scientists start to go into detail about it, it gets a little confusing to me. What I was meaning to imply with my comment about your hot summer days is this: My brother, who lives in sunny Florida, likes to call me in the middle of Winter and tell how sunny and warm it is where he is living. It makes me somewhat “grumpy” because, most likely, like today, I have to go outside in the frigid weather and scrape ice from my car.
Since this is a flute and whistle site, I will mention the following with regard to winter weather. I haven’t been very successful trying to play the flute outside with gloves on. And, folks, if it is really cold and for some reason you need to play outside, just don’t try to play the tin whistle or one of those fancy aluminum whistles. They have the tendency to stick to your lips. Ouch!

Can you imagine reading a passage of English which is fine or uplifting or even thaught provoking with these bits of trash intruding ?
I have just been reading about how English is becoming the dominant world language, with a reporter describing a visit to a primary school 1000 miles north of Addis Abbaba in Ethiopia with all the little kids learning English, though they know nothing of the UK or North America.
How would it be if these damn things became an entrenched part of a formerly beautiful language ?
It was rather amusing that one of the children asked the English visitor if he is Italian.

I can see a process or reverse evolution working in the US of A which will take the language over there ( think of the Bronx ! or rather don’t ) back through heiroglyphs to even more primative pictograms, which I fear you are already plotting to seed American " English " with.
