OT: Knock Knock, where's that?

I’ve noticed on a couple of songs by Christy Moore (Lisdoonvarna, DT’s), he mentions a place he calls “Knock”. Is this Irish slang for a certain city? If so, why do they call it that?

Well, It’s mentioned in the Bible. “Seek and ye shall find Knock”.

According to a book on Ireland which I’m looking at right at this very moment it’s a village in County Mayo which is regarded as the Lourds of Ireland.
