OT: Iriish day and Gaelic Storm on QVC (TV)

They are having an Irish stuff day on QVC, if you get that tv channel check it out. They have the group Gaelic Storm in house, too.

Isn’t that the home shopping channel???

Yeah, and while everything is overpriced, the music is nice!

Yeah, QVC has two Irish days a year - St. Paddy’s of course and Rose of Tralee day, which is today. Actually, the price on some of the stuff isn’t bad. It’s not any more over-priced than at a lot of the Irish boutiques that are around. It’s all stuff made in Ireland, not just knock-offs. Of course, most of it is made for the American public.

Been watching for about 45 min and haven’t heard a whole lot of music yet. Just a woman who can’t shut her mouth. A long time ago I made the mistake of watching 4 minutes of “The View” and wondered what could be worse. I forgot about the shopping channels.

Yeah, they left for a while and came back later.

Ten minutes to go and I have succeeded in not buying anything, hehehe. Helps to have whistles on order. But I did like that Ruana thing.

Me, too, I thought the Ruana thing was way cool-looking!

Fortunately the tan one sold out quickly and the temptation was less

But I ended up getting a whistle yesterday instead, so it was a good decision!

ROFL! I stumbled across this program while I was flipping channels during dinner. Gaelic Storm was playing and the loud-mouthed woman was dancing. Sorry, but I was very underwhelmed – maybe it was just the “venue” but the band kind of reminded me of a garage band during their second week of rehearsals…

That's the first time I've heard Gaelic Storm -- It they're actually any good that makes it a shame because I'm certainly unlikely to give their CDs a try after that brief but disappointing sample.

You should give them a shot. I admit it was kind of a weird setup. They have three CDs and the last one, Tree, is the best.

I think it was hard for them to get in a groove, as they would play like 1/4 or 1/2 of a song/tune and then they would have to stop so QVC could sell more stuff - it was akward. Anybody know why Kathleen (their fiddler/whistle player) wasn’t there? Whoever it was playing the fiddle wasn’t nearly as good. I hope she hasn’t left the band. But DEFINITELY give them a shot - their albums are good but you really need to see them live. It’s a blast!

Haha, sorry i missed them on hsn. However, we just got news that my band will get to open for their gig here in Tennessee. It should be a blast!!

Cool! As in, like, way cool! What’s yer’ bands name?

The bands name is Celtic Air. I play pipes, guitar, whistle, and zouk. We just got back from our 2nd tour to Scotland where we playes 13 concerts in 12 days. (Including playing at Speyfest up in Fochabers.) Can’t wait for the gig on the 17th!

Hey wierdscotsman- I’ve seen you, ya’ll (your pipers anyway)also have played a time or two with our pipe band.

Folks, these kids (Celtic Air) are really good!

Are you talking about the celtic fest in Elizabethton?
