OT-In case you missed it-Queen Nefertiti's mummy found?

I know interests are wide here on this board, so for all those interested in case you missed it: A mummy found years ago resembling Queen Nefertiti, King Tut’s stepmom, was identified as most likely being her yesterday. Here’s a couple online articles.

(While I’m being a dork: There’s going to be a program on the Discovery Channel this Sunday at 8 EST called “Walking with Cavemen” that trails the evolution of humans from the very earliest beginnings to the development of our species. There’s supposed to be new info revealed and it looks like it’s gonna be good. )

I believe it was the young King Tut. who was heard to wail “I want my Mummy!”
Nefertiti (covered in bandages):“But I only cut my finger!”

Sorry- I couldn’t resist!

Digging the whole desert upside down had to attain some result.

Here’s the Woman of Moses Destruction.

Har har. :stuck_out_tongue:

That was an interesting read. Thanks.

I also plan on watching the Caveman special!!

Sara,

Personally, I’d argue that interest in more than boys and loud music is a sign of intelligence rather than dork-hood, but be that as it may, thanks for posting the links.

Ever since I saw the first trailer on CNN yesterday I was hoping to find out more - but was too lazy to go out looking.

“Walking with Cavemen” is a BBC series that was shown on UK tv 2-3 months ago - interesting, but I was a little disappointed on account of it being standard received opinion on ancient man. Darwin theory dramatised and so on.

Well thanks Chuck for making me feel better!
I think you might have to wait til August 17 to find out much more–at least, that’s when Discovery is airing a program about it.

Hmmm, I wonder if it’s the same thing Discovery is showing? I guess it must be, but for some reason I thought it was something brand new. And that’s too bad they only talk about the standard theories–especially since what I’m really interested in are the anti-standard!

I revel in my dorkdom.

Are they looking for Queen Nefertiti’s daddy too?

That’s the great thing about ancient Egyptians - as long as you know who her father-in-law was, you probably already know who her father was.

 Good point Chuck!
