Beer, junkbox, boredom = Cold Guinness, the Geeky Way
Good Lord… that’s… uh… wow I got no words for that… bizarre? Just drink 'em more quickly, I say. Besides, ain’t Guiness supposed to be drunk at room temperatrure?
Mark, befuddled
Well, OK, so those who brew it don’t realize it should be cold, but . . .
Someone in NORWAY rigged that get-up to keep Guinness cold?
NORWAY?
A HOT DAY in Norway?
I thought we had trouble keeping beer cold in Texas. ![]()

Depends on what your room temperature is. I sure as hell don’t want it a 72 degrees. Maybe a cool storage(root cellar) room temperature?
Yeah, I rememver that- it was a set of Peltier (sp?) chips that cool when current is applied ( or some such thing???)
Wasn’t that Thomas Johnson who did the set up???

corrected and amended. thanks
Guinness kegs in pubs in Ireland are quite often stored in cold underground cellars and piped up to the bar. These cellars are usually pretty cold naturally and a lot colder than the temperature in the pub itself thus providing quite a cool drink. Room temperature is quite often considered to be 55 degrees fahrenheit, not exactly room temp around here, quite cool infact. Same temp applies to Belgian brews. England is another story where some bitters and ales are actually served at room temperature.

words of wisdom by our newly poured So Cal Uilleann Pipers Club brew meister. Not only can he play, he can brew, but wait there’s more…

55f’s about room temp in a castle without modern heating. Even in some with modern heating. Not much insulation in a stone wall.
