OT-- go hear the Nylons

I don’t think that a recommendation for some good music is totally OT, so I’d like to recommend that y’all go hear the Nylons if they come your way. They are a 4 man a capella group, and they perform a mix of oldies ( The Lion Sleeps, Up On The Roof) and some of their own stuff. They do use some drum box for a couple of songs, but don’t hold it against them. The Nylons come from the Toronto area, and their touring schedule looks like they mostly play Canada and the upper Midwest-- we were just lucky that they came to Troy NY ( double lucky since it was for a free outdoor gig). Highly entertaining, first rate music.

The Nylons had a long run near here recently.

This is, indeed, excellent music, and I would second brewerpaul’s recomendation to seek them out. They’ve been around for a lot of years, but they’ve always seemed to be one of the music world’s best kept secrets. That high voice on “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” is amazing.

yup! Their song “This Island Earth” consistently sends chills up my back

I saw the Nylons a few years ago live. You thought they sounded amazing when you heard them on stage? I saw them perform on a floating wooden " stage" in a very deep local quarry (Elora) in southern Ontario. The acoustics were unbelieveable.
