I am watching this show and it just makes me think of what might happen if we C&F folks started pranking people. Check it out if you get a chance!

Is it anything like Roy D. Mercer?

This show generally plays on the British tendancy to try not to notice strange goings-on in public.

Not sure how well it would go down in the US, Dom Jolly might just get beaten up or shot.

I don’t recall ever seeing anyone beaten up or shot in public in America, personally.

Walden, you’re joking, right?!

Nope. Never. And I’ve lived all but 4 1/2 years of my life here.

EDITED TO ADD: Then again, the largest city I’ve lived in in the States was Claremore, and I haven’t spent any time around bars and the like.

OK, I was about to quote some statistics that reflect the growing violent nature of western society and the american one in particular… just because we don’t personally witness atrocities doesn’t mean they don’t really happen…

BUT, I took a deep breath and remembered how silly it looks when people use a music forum to debate politics and religion… and I’m going to bite my tongue.

Ouch!

I’ve lived in Washington DC, San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Casper, Wyoming, and never saw a mugging, shooting, stabbing, etc., etc. The worst violence I ever saw was the police throwing tear gas at the May Day riots in Washington in 1971 (didn’t see what provoked it). However, my niece (who was allowed to watch anything on tv she wanted) witnessed a stabbing at a convenience store in Las Vegas. When asked how she felt about it, she replied , “Oh, it wasn’t bad. It was just like watching tv.”

Interesting. I’ve lived in what is easily considered Smalltown, USA all my life. I’ve dispatched for the local police, fire and ems and listened to shootings, hostage situations, drug busts, etc. It’s everywhere, you just don’t hear about it all. No one would ever guess what kind of things happen that just aren’t publicized.
