Just wondering what sort of compliments on their playing people have gotten that leaves one scratching one’s head or saying “Thank you…I think”.
A fellow happened upon me playing my hexagonal musical pig, introduced himself as a recent music Ph.D., and asked me how long I’ve been playing. I told him just over 2 years. He thinks and says, “yeah, that sounds like about 2 years worth of practice.”
Well, … good! I’m always kicking myself for not practicing more, I’m glad I’m on schedule.
Caj (who should practice typing more, too.)

I have similar experiences with people asking me if I could play “Far Away”… >

You’re in luck there Larry. Finally you can meet their request with the virtuosity that caused the request in the first place
As found on JC’s Tunefinder:
Claudine thanks for the Lucky Luke reminder. It’s been years, but I used to love them. You gotta love the Dalton Brothers.
Pixy, I wouldn’t worried about being asked to play “Somewhere Else”. Everybody gets asked to play weird tones they’ve never heard before. Even my session buddies will ask me two or three times a night to play this odd tune called “Still To Loud We Can Still Hear You”. Those Irish tune names just take some getting used to, is all.
