OT: Collective Nouns for Whistles & sessions

We Brits can have a lot of fun with unusual collective nouns, (e.g. a parliament of owls).

What collective nouns can we invent for the whistling fraternity (or sorority for the lassies) to use?

A few to get things started:

A surfeit of Bodhrans (i.e. more than one)
A family of Generations
A squeal of Beginners
A cheekbone of Corrs
A wisdom of Dales
A moderation of Riches

A “kindergarten” of Sweetones?
Christian

A shriek of whistles.
A grove of Oaks?
An oodle of Soodlums?
A bellow of accordions.

A Pride of Pennyless Pennywhistle Purchasers

A gaggle of Generations
A flock or flight of Feadogs
A bouquet of Roses
A cain of Abells
A cluster of Clares
A hive of Generation Bb’s (God, that’s painful)

Thanks, you guys–I am laughing myself silly over all these. You’re the best!

I like the bouquet of Roses suggestion.

How about:
• a forest of Oaks
• a closet of Hoovers

A cesspool of critics?

an Obsession of whistle players…

How about (with tongue in cheek, of course):

a crock of Kerrys?
a pitch of tunables?

These are great. Right up there with my all time favorite — a braile of umpires.

Whistle - a plethora of pleasures,
a pleasant panacea
played with panache (hopefully)
by a captivated collector

A Brace of Burkes
A Clutch of Clarkes
A Span of Sindts
A Bevy of Bodhrans
A Colony of Copelands
A Covey of Copleys
A Wake of Weasels
A Group of Grinters
A Wad of Wiselys

A tribe of time bandits

Hello Martin,
This is a great idea for a thread. I love it. As soon as I get some ideas I will post them. Keep up the good topics. ~Mimi

Jef, some of the members from the USA may not get the closet of Hoovers… we always call them vacuum cleaners!

Could’ve been a reference to J Edgar of course.

Over a ton of Overtons
A mixin’ of Dixons
A bevy of Burks

An apogee of High G’s
An Air of Low-D’s
A Song of C’s
