No-one else plays the Chieftainsā€™ version of The King of Laois either. The Chieftains purposely go out of their way to customize their versions of tunes. I donā€™t know anyone who would hold up their work as the model or standard. That doesnā€™t mean I donā€™t like their versions - I do - its just that I donā€™t think that you can hold their very customized versions of tunes up and say this is how its supposed to be played.
