Original Drawing of Seamus Ennis on eBay

Those fingers!

Nice painting, but the background makes me think that the artist didn’t like Ennis very much, if you get my meaning. :astonished:

Is the artist implying Seamus is playing pipes in Hell? The dark eyesockets, fingers, reminds me of a cartoon…

Welcome to heaven here’s your harp, welcome to hell here’s your accordian.

The artist is wonderful though, I am jesting, reminds me of the vintage magic posters I collect using imps, flames of hell, etc. Would love it on my wall at home but need to keep money to upgrade my pipes someday soon.

All kidding aside it’s a wonderful tribut.

The longer I look at this painting,
and the more I get to thinking about it,
The worse it looks to me..almost postmortem.
I just deleted it from my computer pictures

Sorry, Lorenzo, I wasn’t meaning to pee on your doorstep. It was just my immediate impression as a lapsed painter…

Best,
N

Just a little too creepy for you Lorenzo?

.elggig uoy ekam yam ti tub - uoy nmad t’now sdrawkcab siht gnidaer

:smiling_imp:

Actually, the setting would have been more appropriate if Ennis were portrayed playing a rcrd*r.

It reminds of the aliens in the X-Files with the black oil in their eyes!

The doorstep is fine, but the piss-poor
background on the painting looks,well…(shrug)

Anyone with a just little artistic talent
can place a finger over the lips and see
that the face is improved by 50%, and maybe
add a little flesh color to the cheeks. Those
lips though…remind me of the siffness of a cadaver

I was laughing in spite of myself at the horror of it when I first saw it. I can only hope that the painter simply needs to work at better technique.

Best,
N

Yeah, I actually saw this on eBay the other day too. My first reaction was THOSE CHEEKBONES?! That’s what freaked me out the most. He looks, uh, not alive.

I use to be a type setter years ago…
always looking back!

I’m feeling a little punchy now that it’s the end of the day and I could hardly keep myself from rooling on the floor laughing at some of the comments - anyway, I’m sure Mr. Smith is a very talented artist and a remarkably fine fellow (I haven’t a clue who he is, but said all that to not want to embarrass or say nasty things about someone I’ve never met), but I looove this line:

“This painting looks much better in person.”

:boggle:  hahahaha!!!

heehee

(wiping eyes)

heh heh, hee hee

sigh

(reflective smirk)

“This painting looks much better in person”

Hotter, anyway.

Reminds me of Mark Twain’s comment about the music of Richard Wagner: “His music is much better than it sounds.”

That’s great!
