My! Such a large beastie! It makes the story of St. George and the dragon seem much the more of a miracle.
I’ve always been one given to speculate on the origin of the dragon…nearly every culture has one in some form or other…

Did i say that? Hmm… at any rate, there seem to be dragon myths in way too many world cultures, which is pretty provocative…I guess you could do your phD on that subject and not run out of stuff to write about…

I was beginning to wonder. 
I’d complain that this is anti-American or something, but, I just find this so very, very, funny, that I’ll not.
Sorry… me and the church group was off trying to figure out how to fit these guys in the ark, without getting eat up by the tyrannosauri rex and the hippopotamuses.
But they left these lovely little fossils for people to find…
As I recall, the word “dragon” comes from the greek “drakon” and/or the latin “draco” which, in the latin case is mostly translated as “serpent” though in Romanian the “drac” or “dracul” is also interpreted as “devil”, hence “Dracula”
Sometimes the winged serpent closer to a Amphiptere (Wyvern) then the Western Dragon.
There’s also the “Guivre/Wurm/Wyrm/Vurm/Worm”, the Ouroboros, the Lindorm/Lindworm, the hydra, amphisbaena, naga and so on.
Yet the intriguing thing is why do nearly all primitive cultures share a story about a dragon/serpent? Why do some consider this creature as benevolent while others as malevolent? Inquiring minds want to know.
