Opportunity for Instrument Makers at NY Fleadh in May!

The Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Mid Atlantic Region Fleadh will be
held at the Parsippany (NJ) Hilton Hotel over the weekend of May 18-20,
2012. We will be making exhibition space available to instrument
makers, free of charge, to exhibit their instruments and meet their
customers. Our fleadh attracts musicians of all ages from across North
America, and we feel it is important to spread awareness of the fine
instruments available. We hope you will consider joining us. You can
count on meeting lots of old friends and will certainly make many
more.

We expect to use the conference rooms reserved for music competitions
during the daytime as exhibition space in the evenings, with one maker
per room, which should allow sound isolation for people to try out
instruments. Rooms will be available Friday and Saturday night.
Expect to work late - busiest hours seem to be from 8pm till midnight.
Space will be allotted on a first-come basis, so please respond as
soon as your scheduling permits.

Note: we are only extending this offer to makers; dealers are welcome
to join us under our vendor program.

If you are interested in exhibiting, please contact me at

We did this at the 2010 convention in the same hotel, and it was a big
hit, so come join us if you can.

For more information about the fleadh in general, try www.nyfleadh.com
and if that does not help, drop me a note and I’ll see what I can turn
up for you.

We are doing this again this year. Same place but dates are May 10-12, 2013. Everyone had a blast last year, with some of the best sessions happening in the instrument makes conference rooms! Visit http://www.nyfleadh.com for details about the fleadh. Will there be a list of makers scheduled to attend posted on the web site, or perhaps posted here?

Thanks and best wishes.

Steve

Will there be a list of makers scheduled to attend posted on the web site, or perhaps posted here?

Hi Steve - I always mean to do that, and almost always get swamped as the fleadh approaches and forget. So far we have Rob Gandara of Carbony Celtic Winds and Jerry Freeman planning on attending. John Sindt does not exhibit, but can usually be found in the building Saturday afternoon and evening. Last year Paddy Ward came with a fine batch of flutes and Jeff Thomas showed some lovely concertinas. The year before (I think) Forbes and Yola Christie brought a clutch of flutes (pride, litter, rake? I think I prefer clutch, because like a handful of eggs, instruments on a table are both a bit of perfection and a promise of what may come) and left with empty bags and a full order book (at least I hope they did). I will try to get back here with an update in late April when we should have a pretty good idea of who is coming.

All the best,

Tom

Personally, I’d go with “bevy”.

Thanks very much.

Best wishes.

Steve
