Online whistle tutorials

Hello everybody! Just a quick question. Last year I found a really good website, which featured a video clips of a bloke playing the whistle, and talking you through the difficult bits. It started off with ballads and moved onto jigs and reels and so on.

Well, last year me computer sound card died a horrible death, so I stopped visiting that website, reasoning that when I got the sound card sorted I would return.

The computer has now followed the sound card, and I no longer have the link to this cornucopia of whistling instruction. Can anyone remember what it was called, or let me know if it is still online. If not, any advice about good places to listen to whistling, since I no longer have an Irish pub down the road from me. :sniffle:

Ah, go on. You know you want to help me.

And it has been a while since I returned to this forum, so to those who don’t know me, BOO! :smiling_imp:

I think you’re describing www.Whistletutor.com

Another site for a tutorial and clips of great whistle players is Brother Steve’s page at http://www.rogermillington.com/siamsa/brosteve/index.html

Thank you! Yes, that is the one. And thank you for Brother Steve as well.

Oooo… of course I went to the Chiff & Fipple beginners one. (Which as great, I might add.)

But, thank you for posting that one also.

goes off and takes a look

There is another set at WWW.KERRYWHISTLES.com It is in the movies section at the bottom of the list. It is aimed at the low whistle player but most things apply to hi whistles as well.

I have a generation D, which plays beautifully. Even though it is me playing!

So I suppose that is a low whistle? Do you mean low price, or low pitch? (I am slow on the uptake…)

A low D whistle is one octave lower in pitch than your Generation D. They are about 22-23 inches long and 3/4-1 inch in diameter. There are very few of hese that are low cost. The jubilee practice whistle is one of the low cost low Ds.
