I mean, I know its a great book, and hard to find, but $600? Does that strike anyone else as a little much?

There’s a copy of the book offered at AbeBooks for US$82.37.
Rare books aren’t cheap, even if they’re recent reprints. I looked high and low for a copy of the Dover reprint of Riley’s Flute Melodies (1814), which was published in the 70’s. Lowest price was something like $400.
You’d as well get it from libraries through Interlibrary Loan, and copy it by hand, if you really want the thing.
I suggest that you get a copy through interlibrary loan and:
-
Translate it into Ancient Sumerian and press it onto clay tablets in cuneiform using a stylus made from water buffalo horn; then
-
Translate that into Old Irish and write it onto a postage stamp using a hummingbird quill; then
-
Translate that into Chinese and carve it onto a grain of rice using a sharpened piranha tooth.
After you’ve completed this task, you will no longer need the book in question since its contents will be forever etched into you mind (via your third eye).
Let us know how you do with this.
