One year

A year ago today, I officially joined C&F. In this time, I have met some interesting people, and received a lot of GREAT advice. I look forward much to this next year of C&F, and whistling. Cheers!

My how the time flies.

Sorry about your luck.

Congrats, Shadow. Your contributions are always appreciated!

I’m confused, though. Might as well just blurt it out . . . I’ve always thought you were female. Am I again suffering from gender-confusion?

(Your current avatar . . . )

Thank God it’s not just me. These pseudonyms…I’ve had the gender of at least six people wrong on C&F over the last couple of years. I honestly thought Cranberry was a woman for at least 18 months, for example. I won’t give any more examples so as not to cause offence…

Wait till ya find out that the pictures of Joseph E. Smith are really of Lambchop!

I’m kidding! Really!

Words like “ice,” “thin” and “treading” spring to mind…

Whenever people talk to me on the phone, they normally think I’m a woman.

Heheh! I’m not at all…no, Shaw, stop there right now…

Well…last time I checked…I was a guy…and last time I saw…my avatar is a fairly recent picture of me.

It’s the Florida heat Lamby…its gets to the best of us…

But I have had the occasional telemarketer/customer service rep. address me as ma’am. With a little falsetto, I’ve been told I can sound just like my sister. Go figure.

 Good thing you stopped, Steve, because I have been known to “sock it” to some impertinent gents!

I thought it was a bit over the top…

I think that I’d been here over a year before they guessed about me. :astonished:

Then, I suppose it’s a good thing I didn’t pop in unannounced last time I was in Orlando . . .

…has major sideburns.

He has a false sense of security in the thousands of miles separating us.

Anyway, I have way more hair than Joseph E. Smith.

I am, in fact, trying to go from very short to long enough to wear up. It is now at that awkward stage where all the edges are at weird lengths due to it having been cut out over my ears.

It’s also that awkward time of year when the humidity is 89%, causing my hair to straighten out and draggle before I can even get into the car in the morning. As it grew, the weight overcame the fluffing abilities of the acrylic copolymers I had been using on it. One day last week, in fact, I walked across the courtyard at work – about 30 yards – and the hairspray (on top of the polymers) melted in the heat and moisture. My floofy “do” collapsed, resolidifying into nightmarish crunchy mass. I had to soak it out.

I decided that a perm would be just the thing. It would disguise the weird edges, allowing me to grow some more length, while still having primo floof.

Now I look like Art Garfunkle.

Tuesday, I tried blow-drying it with a brush. It was very floofy. Then it sproinged back up again in the car. At work, it took someone by surprise. She almost wet her pants.

I’m going to bed now so I can get up 30 minutes early in order to try some more fashion techniques on it.
