The Eagle’s Whistle book has not been available for a while. I have looked, but even though some places list it (e.g. NPU) when contacted they say it is no longer in stock.

Assuming you mean the Golden Eagle, NPU had it in the shop during the Willie week.
Nigel Gatherer’s index web site notes that Bulmer and Sharpley collected the tune from Cathal McConnell as The Burren, and he notes that the Pride of Erin Ceili Band called it The Rising Sun. [but it isn’t]
The Star of Kilkenny in O’Neill’s is completely different.

Interestingly, the article says that Junior Crehan’s father was related to Garrett Barry in some way.
Also, I seem to recall that I read somewhere that Thady Casey taught Willie Clancy to dance.
This tune is given as The All-Ireland in Martin Mulvihill’s “First Collection”.
The Burren, which has been used for this tune and sort of this tune played in another key (Charlie Harris’s), and maybe something else, but I’m confused now.
Yep, that one. Its not easy being lysdexic. NPU said it was sold out this summer when I contacted them, and that it was unlikely to be reprinted.

I just checked, and it would seem that it is still available.
With who? NPU? It is in their catalogue, but when I ordered it, they contacted me to say it was no longer available, as I noted above. Did you order it?

I went as far as to the check out part…almost paid, and nothing came up telling me it was unavailable.
It might have to get to the “person looks for a copy to stick in the envelope” part before the unavailable flag gets raised
