Isn’t this getting a bit silly? Just a reed for a few bucks/bob? Why not a bottle opener thrown in?

bit hard to tell by the photo, but does it have any binding on it? Looks like just the reed head and brass staple with a bit of binding round the middle of the tail.
That’s all that’s really needed if the tails are short. Also, Moller wraps his tails with plumber’s tape (PTF, teflon, etc.) so air-tightness from the waxed thread is not as big an issue.
