Old Pictures

I plucked a book frae ma shelf last night as one does afore retiring for the evening here in Caledonia, and this was the frontispiece.I have had the book a wee while but never realy looked at it.It is really a lovely work throughout ..Moores Irish Melodies 1846 Longmans of Paternoster Row London. The engravings are so Victorian and there is an dedication frae a man to a woman inside in faded ink dated 1858.I hope they had a good life.Fer those o ye wi bad eyesight there is a piper in the top right corner.

Uilliam

Thank you Uilliam…although it takes me a while to read through your posts and translate them to English - it is always well worth it.

I’ve spent several minutes trying to diagnose which Thom Moore song belongs to each image, and not getting very far.

Wow, lovely picture. thanks
