OK, all the newbies can stop apologizing now...

Hey, my friends in Newbie-Land:

  1. If you have question, try to find the answer first. There is a handy search tool and a bunch of information on the main website. If you don’t try first, well, no one is going to bite you head off or anything. Despite the occasional moans of “Oh, I am so burned out!” most people like answering your question, even if it has been asked a gazillion times, and they like meeting you here on C&F.

  2. Put the topic of you question in the topic. And no, the fact that you are a newbie is not the topic.

  3. Stop apologizing for being a newbie, or not knowing something. That implies that you think there is something wrong with it, which there is not. If your motivation is to be considerate of others, then just ask your question and be polite and open and patient.

  4. Remember, if people don’t want to answer your question, they just won’t. No harm done in asking.

  5. Whistle away.
