I asked Casey Burns about that once. He said that Mopane would require more oiling than Blackwood as it is not as resinous/oily naturally. I don’t know if Box and Mopane would require similar amounts of oiling. Supposedly, Mopane is MUCH more stable than Boxwood.
-FWIW, I find oiling my blackwood flute makes the high octave easier to play, and makes the flute easier to play with similar volume in both octaves.
