What is the general price for a used O’Grady half set. I saw that there have been a few ebay auctions before I was on the loop. Unfortunately, ebay no longer has the pages. I saw one went for +$1800 (ridiculous), what have the others gone for?

In December 2002, a slightly used O’Grady practice set (with case) sold on eBay for $991.50.

At the time, Song of the Sea had them in stock for $850 new. They are now priced at $900.
Used? depends… I’ve seen one as low as $700 early last year.
As far as pricing for used intruments it all depends on what a buyer is willing to pay. As such there is no set range for used musical instruments. I’ve heard it said that investors are buying up old instruments not to play but merely for the fact that quality instruments always appreciate in value!
Buying used Uilleann pipes does not always mean that it will be significantly cheaper than new due to the issue of having to wait to get sets made. For some people having no waiting period translates into an incentive to part with a bit more cash. I’ve bought some used instruments that were just as good as new, and I’ve bought others that I’m still trying to get into playing condition. There are many factors to consider when pricing something that is used. As such, the price always “depends”.
