-> OFFICIAL ANNOUNCMENT: Fipple Fest 2013

Everything is in motion for Fipple Fest 2013 - the only tin whistle festival in the US!

Dates: July 26-28
Location: Coos Bay Oregon

We will have some of the best Whistle players, many Whistle makers, workshops and vendors, open sessions, and a celebration of everything whistle related!

I will try to keep updates about the festival here, and on the festival website: http://www.fipplefest.com

We have many spots open for vendors, and we need festival sponsors!

Nick, I am going to spread the word about this. I live up in Albany - Coos Bay isn’t too far!

Wonderful! The website is awesome.

I agree that the website looks great. Although I didn’t see any information about registration or pricing to just show up and enjoy it. Or perhaps it’s free to the public? Either way it looks like it has a lot of potential. I hope this takes off with the whistle makers and vendors. And hopefully by the time it comes around I’ll have enough extra money to justify a trip to Oregon.

A trip to Oregon is always justified!(I know, money is always tight.)
That coast has to be one of the most beautiful in the world.

Nick,
With regard to sponsors, I would suggest contacting the marketing / public rellations directors for Guinness, Aer Lingus, and other large companies that have close ties to Ireland. You should also contact the Chamber of Commerce in the Coos Bay area, the State of Oregon Tourism Commission, any organization that promotes the arts and culture (often these groups can be very helpful with any events that might bring an infusion of money to the local economy. Local merchants might also help defray the cost of printed materials such as ad posters, program fliers, etc. by paying for advertising print for their businesses to be included in the programs. Just a few ideas to consider.

Thanks for all the ideas… keep em coming! I will be posting festival ticket prices and all that soon, but we are negotiating those details with our artists at the moment, so I can’t release that info quite yet.

It looks like Cherish the Ladies, and Solas are on Board. Working to get Geraldine Murray of the Murray School of Irish Dance to come down with some of her dancers (she’s a fantastic Whistle player as well). I have a tentative “Yes” from the Band Legacy, a wonderful Irish band out of the south (Mississippi/Louisiana) (The band also includes the incredible Justin Murphy who was my Flute teacher for a short time)

I’ve also contacted L.E. McCullough to see if he might be able to make it… would be pretty cool if he agrees!

We are selling ad space in the festival program, Banners at the festival, mentions on the posters, and of course on the web site and festival online advertising and facebook advertising depending on the size of the contributions.

If you haven’t already please look at the web site: http://www.fipplefest.com
And also like us on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/FippleFest

Guinness sadly has sponsored all the events they are going to for 2013 already… so that one is out, but Ii’ll look into Aer Lingus
