O'Brien Whistle

Recently there was a discussion that mentioned the guarantee Carey Parks has regarding his whistles. I’d like to mention another maker with an outstanding guarantee. Some time ago I bought a “previously owned” O’Brien Rover. After playing it for a while I found a single note that just bothered me.

I wrote Mr. O’Brien and asked if there might be any problems expected if I tuned it a bit (as I do my pipes). He wrote back and noted his guarantee, “After one month, and for as long as you own your O’Brien whistle, you may return it for free repairs, refinishing or adjustments. This guarantee is transferable, should you ever sell or trade your O’Brien Whistle.”

Sounded good so I sent it off and today got back a re-tuned and oiled whistle with brass shined and bore smoothed. Sounds and looks great. So just want to publicly acknowledge that yet another maker stands behind his product and has great customer service. [Note: I have no financial interest at all in O’Brien whistles. I’m just a pleased customer, even though I didn’t even buy the whistle directly from the maker.]

Best wishes.

Steve

And David’s Narrow-bore brass whistle is a really surpisingly nice little tooter.

Yes, that makes two of us Steve. I had a joint on my three peice rover become loose over time. Mr O’Brien was happy to have it sent back for repair and even to re-align the brass slide if necessary…However, since I live all the way round the wrong side of the world and am handy with tools I asked how he would fix it. He told me what was needed without any problems, and I sorted the issue out in just a few minutes. Once again many thanks to you, Mr D. O’Brien, for a great product and equally great aftermarket service.
