Time to sell the old Guild. Its an F-30 and I have had it since it was made. About 35 years. She is in Very good shape and sounds wounderful. I have a new set of machine heads for it but I never got around to putting them on. Ill be putting it on Ebay with a 600 dollar reserve. But I thought I would see if anyone here would be interested in it. So…you can have it for 600 bucks. That is a steal. The hard case shows its age but is still functional and doesnt look that bad. I just dont play it anymore and it should be played. I`ll wait a couple of days before I do the ebay thing so pm me or email me if your interested.
Yikes-I had an F-30 for 19 years-bought new as a second in '74 with a tiny fill mark in back but good sound which matured nicely-sort of quiet but with crisp enunciation good for picking and just enough volume for contra dance backup. Good guitars often sound better at eight to ten or more years than when new. It always was nice to have that gender-specific Guild curve nestled on the thigh…oops..this is a family forum… so hush…engine boss girlfriend is out fighting fires near Loomis/Tonasket for the DNR so I wax, um, dreamy…

I hear ya on the nestled on the thigh thing Brian. Im trying to teach myself to play the Bouzouki and the hardest thing about playing the thing is how to hold it. It is amazing how much the tone changed through the years on my old Guild. Im a finger picker and love playing gutter blues. With the light guage strings I use the sound is realy something. The action is superb and I think it would be hard to find a spruce tree of the quality that the top of this honny is made. Many years ago a friend of mine liked is so much he had Guild make him one.(they weren`t makeing this model any longer) It was a nice guitar but weighed quite a bit more then mine. Well anyway nice to hear that someone else knows about these little sweathearts.
That sounds like an absolute cracker Tom. If I didn’t already have so many guitars ( ) I’d take up your offer like a shot. Someone looks like getting a real bargain here. Good luck anyway Tom, but you won’t need luck to sell this little beauty.

blackbeer, that is a fine old guitar. my first decent guitar was a guild classical. are you sure you want to get rid of such an old friend? even though i don’t play my 2 guitars that much right now, i just couldn’t let them go too many good memories, just take her out and smell her sound hole there

i guess you almost have to wear a strap to play mandolion- bazooki(sp)
i love those instruments but i have never felt comfortable using a plectrum and i like a wide neck
I hear ya Tansy but she need to go to a good home where she can make music again. And ya those zook necks are skinny. But the sound is just incredable. Between it and my flute and whistles and my total lack of interest in guitars anymore its time she left.
I have a friend that has a Guild he bought about 1955. He still has it and plays it regularly in a Gospel group. It sounded great in 1956 when I first saw it and sounds better now. I do not play my Martin D28 anymore but I could not bring myself to sell it. (Sure would buy a lot of whistles.) My grandson plays it any time he is here and he is better than I ever thought I was. Good luck. I hope it bids up to twice what it’s worth.

Could you give me some details about your guitar. Such as kind of wood, style of guitar, inside bracing used?
When I was in North Carolina last year I played on a 1920’s Arch Top…don’t remember the make, but it sounded INCREDIBLE! I felt like Chuck Berry playing that thing. It was in great shape and only selling it for 2 grand. I was so tempted to buy it.
Well its an F-30 small box flat top. Spruce top I think it is rosewood sides and back(could be wrong) rosewood fret board, I dont know what you mean by bracing, it has a steel reinforced adjustable neck, as I said I`ve hac it for 35 years and never had to repair anything, maybe if you check with Guild they could tell you what you want to know. I am just about giving it away at this price if you want to check around about it. I have to head out now but will be back this afternoon. I will put it on Ebay tonight.
A google search on Guild F30 will give you some to look at. Tom is right – this is an excellent price. If I could justify it at all . . . but someone is going to get one heckuva guitar!
