Can anyone help? I have been unable to see the menus on the NPU website for many months and have contacted them by email and haven’t received any response. I’m using Windows XP and IE 6.0. Do I need to download something else? Any help appreciated! Thanks!
P.S. I get the following message:
"The Na Píobairí Uilleann website uses JavaScript to create a set of pop-up menus for navigation. The fact that you are reading this page implies that your browser is incompatible with this feature.
We would like to apologise for this inconvenience and are surrently working on a version of the site that will allow you to explore our site in full.
Meanwhile, we would appreciate your feedback and ask you to send an email to webmaster@pipers.ie, stating your Operating System (Windows version or MacOS version) and the type of browser you’re using (Internet Explorer, Netscape etc)."
It looks like either you have a firewall running that is blocking scripting or your browsers security is blocking scripting.
Assuming it is your browser…
Extra->internet options->security tab
If you have adjusted settings for “the internet zone” open them (“adjusted level” button) and activate “active scripting” if it’s off.., that should make it work.
Or pick one of the standard settings which has scripting on.
Or choose a more strict setting and turn scripting on again, etc, etc
(i have a dutch windows version so some of the above may be worded slightly different in an english version)
Wally, maybe it’s time to switch. For XP there’s a really excellent browser called FireFox, it’s faster and cleaner, and just better, and does
open NPU menus:
I think Rick’s probably got it. I can successfully run the NPU menues in both IE 6.0 and Netscape 7.1 on WinXP with no problem. You could well have something blocked in your security settings, either in Windows or in your firewall if you’re running one of those type applications. I have found it helpful to turn off Windows firewall when running Mcafee Guardian, else I get so many layers of filtering that I don’t know where to look any more.
While I generally agree that Firefox is the better browser these days, using Firefox may not solve your problem if you have followed Rick’s instructions and still have no menues on the top of the page. In that case, it’s probably a script-blocking firewall. Are you at work or do you use your computer at home?
Strange, I don’t get that non-javascript message if I switch off javascript in my browser…
