I thought I’d let people know about this festival; It’s in Ten Sleep, Wyoming (home of the Nowood River). It’s a fun festival, all outdoor, with a wide variety of music (rock, celtic folk, and just about everything in between). Very laid back, good food, camping and fishing nearby. There’s even a hotel or two in town.
My band will be playing Saturday at 7, so at least one whistler will be involved. If any of you happen to find yourselves in Ten Sleep that weekend (cultural Mecca of the west) do come by!
I want to make it, but it falls on the last days of our rodeo/fair plus my brother’s birthday. Going to try to make it on Saturday at least, just as long as I don’t miss the dog trials.
Ah, but I DID mention it, clear back last spring, but the thread quickly died out and I decided to take the hint for the time being.
What, you don’t know where Ten Sleep is? Wow, I thought EVERYONE knew. Grab a map of Wyoming. Look in the north central part and find Worland (land of my youth). Now, take a right, go about 30 miles, and there, right at the base of the Big Horn Mountains (playground of my youth) is Ten Sleep. Once you hit town, well, just sort of look for the crowd, or roll down your window and listen. It’s pretty hard to miss in a town of 300.
The festival starts 9 am August 10th, and goes until 11 that night; same times on sunday. It costs $7 per day or $10 for the weekend. At last count, there were going to be 24 different bands. Should be a good time.
I’m going to have to leave Sunday, since I’m taking my youth group kids on a big backpacking trip the next day and need to make sure everyone’s good to go. There’s a good, cheap, comfortable campground in town, and free camping in the mountains if you’re into that sort of thing. (Lander’s a two hour drive away, so you probably don’t want to stay with me)
Tom,
I am sorely tempted to come. My grandad’s ashes are spread right out of town there. Since most of my family is from Ten Sleep and Thermop it would be grand excuse for visiting. If the festival is in the park right there at the edge of town be sure to stop next door for some AWESOME grub, I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant.
And break a leg. (in a good way)
Sean
