So, Phil’s Historic Instruments will doubtless buy all the crud and then put it out (untouched/as purchased) on eBay with 500% mark-ups!

Bonham’s Knightsbridge Music Room auction on 18th January may have something interesting
been a long time since Bonham’s has had an array of flutes. Sometimes they have one or two of late, but not like the old days.
same with sotheby’s and christie’s (for whom i’ve done evaluations for both).
Gardiner gets the bulk lately…and even they are “iffy” at best in quality at times, though sometimes one gets lucky.
Did anybody here buy the very interesting Florio? I was registered for the auction online, and tried to wake up at the right time to watch it. I didn’t realize how fast those auctions move, and my “1 lot per minute” scheme was way off. I logged in about 4 lots too late. The site hasn’t updated yet to show sale prices. This was a very cool flute, probably a very early one to have all the keys.
Think the Florio went for £2100/2200
