Not OT: Anthony from "The Wiggles" and whistles

I searched the archives this morning to see if this has been brought up before…it has, twice, but not any discussion came of it. Maybe none will this time, either, but..

My kids really like to watch the hit Australian group for kids, The Wiggles. (They’re on the Disney channel.) I like them also because their songs are reminiscent of 50’s rock n’ roll, sort of, and not just the mindless Barney annoying babbeling. Anyway… Anthony Field, the blue-shirted one, has in seasons past played a Guiness-type whistle for some of the songs. This new season (started in October) he has greatly expanded both his song-playing repertoire and his collection. His favorite whistle now seems to be a long silver metallic one that sounds nice…a bit breathy, sort of like a Sweetone sound but made in low D or some low key like that. He’s gotten much better with his playing and it sounds really nice. He also plays the drums and today he was playing the fiddle. He seems to have a real interest in Irish music because several times they have featured Irish tunes and singing and also had Irish step-dancers.

Do any of you Australians know of him, and does anyone know if he knows about C & F? It seems like he’d probably really enjoy the fun craziness here.

Dunno that i can help you with your main questions, but seeing that your kids love the wiggles as mine do they might enjoy checking out their website at www.thewiggles.com.au or even better still buy their videos and you too can go slightly round the twist overdosing on the big red car
Regards
David

We could always write to them but my impression is that they are pretty much international stars now and sell a lot of products to their very young fans. I imagine they get so much mail they probably hire someone to deal with it.

Whatever, your question would make a change from the mail they usually receive, unless, of course, you phrase your question like a three year old.

Thanks David and Wombat. My kids checked out their website. I signed up for their message board (“to send a message to the Wiggles, sign up for the message board”) but whomever is running it isn’t very on top of things…you have to be sent an “activation key” by email and supposely it comes within 24 hours, but I haven’t seen it yet.

Anyway, thanks for the response. If I ever get on the message board I will tell them about C & F. Maybe they’ll read it, maybe not.

Cees, I might be wrong about this but I believe the Wiggles sell more product than top pop acts these days. I doubt they have the ‘attitude’ of an Elton John or Mick Jagger, but I’d be surprsied if they could give anything the personal touch these days. I hope I’m wrong, but I think it best not to get your hopes up or to be too hard on them if they don’t respond.
