North Alabama Musicians

I apologize if this post is in the wrong forum. I’m wondering if there are any musicians or maybe even musician gatherings in the North Alabama area. Specifically, around the Muscle Shoals area.

I play electric bass dominantly. I also sort of play whistle and have recently started trying to learn fiddle. There’s all kinds of places to play bass when I want to play blues or rock. I’d really like to find a group that meets weekly and has an interest in traditional Irish music. But oddly enough, with all the musicians I know, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of interest in it here.

My bass playing experience has taught me that I’ll be much more likely to enjoy, and therefore learn, playing traditional music if I can find some folks to enjoy it with.

There’s a group that plays in Huntsville. I think the member called Ballyshannon is among them. If not, I can connect you with another guy via email or Facebook.

Thanks. Huntsville is about 90 miles for me. It may be that I just have to find a group like that and maybe go less often. The Shoals has some great musicians but the interests are mostly in post-1950’s music.
