No trade afterall, thanks anyway.

Having been forced to part with my beloved Cocus Olwell last month, I am currently fluteless :frowning: It really is weird not having a flute, odd feeling.

Now, it just ocurred to me that I have a perfectly good, like new condition 5 pocket Cavallero flute roll bag just lying around that perhaps someone might be interested in trading for. Does anyone have an Olwell bamboo F they aren’t using much anymore? If so, perhaps we can work something out…

I’m open to considering other possible trades as well, I just can’t think of any other (decent) flutes that would be in a similar price range.

PM me if interested.

Cheers,

Loren
P.S. Whoops, I just remembered that I do have a little bamboo D fife hidden away that a friend made for me, so I’m not entirely fluteless after all ( thanks again J. ) So I guess I’ll be doing some serious puckering while looking for a trade, hee hee.

Edit: I have edited the title so that anyone searching for useful info on Cavallero bags won’t have to sort through this (non-pertinent) thread.

dude!

After all we’ve been through together, I cannot leave you fluteless! Do you want my Olwell Bamboo D? I’ll give it to you. I’m going back to the states on 12 July for a couple of weeks and could send it to you.

I have some new flutes coming and don’t play it too much but I maintain it well with oil and a fairly humid natural environment.

E-mail me.

The flute cost me $1600 (Cocus option was extra) plus an additional $65 or so for the Cavallaro Flute Roll Bag that I will include with the case

come on now loren, make with the roll bag…

Wow, talk about typos!!! What that should have said was “…which I will include with the FLUTE”, not “case” as I didn’t have a case of any sort. As I mentioned, I didn’t want to send the flute across the world in that flimsy Cavallero bag, so I went out and bought the (brand new) hard case I used to shipped the Olwell in, as we discussed.

Never the less, I’m the one who made the mistake, so if you feel it’s worth it to pay the import tax (VAT, Duty, or whatever they’re calling it), let me know and I’ll ship the Cavallero off to you - I’m a man of my word, even if I don’t know which words I’m typing!

The timing here couldn’t have been more timely, considering the my exchange with David in the “Cocus” thread - I hope David is having a good laugh

Loren

G.,

Thanks for the incredibly generous offer  I’ve had a difficult time playing Olwell Bamboo D’s in the past, due to the finger stretch and hole sizes - I’ve got small paws and this is about the only flute that has given me trouble when it comes to sealing the holes :frowning:

Will send you an e-mail.

Loren

Loren:

Did you get my PM?

Mark

Yes Thanks. I’ve sent you a reply via PM as well.

Best,

Loren

Loren, you’re always good for a chuckle, if not a snit

and I’ve got 3 Cavallaro bags not doing a thing if anyone wants to send flutes my way!..whoops, only two…gave one away recently.

yeah man, post it on over, there may be no duty on it when its posted, and i think that the duty only applies when its over a certain value, something like 50 euro, so the bag should be declared as something of a reasonably tiny value. oh by the way i played my first competition on the olwell today, at the connaught fleadh.

Okay dude, send me a PM with your address again and I’ll mail the bag.

Never mind the trade idea folks, thanks anyway.

Loren

The little d fife is a good fife! Brian Berryman played it last summer and made it sound like a freakin’ piccolo! Find it and pucker up already!

I just made an A flute/fife out of bamboo last week and it’s extremely easy to lip in the low octave (it might even be a bit too loud) and certainly easier than the high d in the upper octave. I think I’m going to try a lower key soon. I learned how to sand out the inside of the nodes to extend the sounding length of a piece of bamboo, so I feel less limited in terms of keys available with the bamboo I have.

I hope all canine problems are temporary and that a full canine recovery is on the horizon.

Yup, the fife is a good one, it’s loud though! (I found it)

Thanks for the thoughts re: the K9 Unit. Sadly, having taken him to the vet this weekend, the prognosis is not good

Have fun with the bamboo flute making.

L

Very sorry to hear about the canine prognosis.

Thanks.
