Hmmm. I wonder if Jack Benny might have also suffered from that condition? They say that when someone would truly crack him up and he was on the verge of hysterics that he would fall to the floor.
Cataplexy is part of the Narcoleptic Tetrad, aka the 4 hallmark signs of narcolepsy. The other 3 are excessive daytime sleepiness, hypnagogic (sleep-onset) hallucinations, and sleep paralysis.
That’s just reminded me of a program I saw about sleep disorders. There was a woman on it that fell asleep every time she laughed, almost ruined her life. She couldn’t go out with her friends, it affected her work and her relationships.
Quite sad.
I dated someone who’d fall asleep within three seconds of, err, a climax. I once tried keeping her talking to see what would happened, but she feel asleep on cue regardless.
Odd, it’s usually men who do this.
