Nikola Tesla

Whenever I’m bored I look up something about Tesla. Now I’m no electrical engineer, scientist, etc. but for some reason I’ve been fascinated by this man’s work. Last night I found this on youtube, in four parts.. pretty interesting stuff..even if a bit dated..

My uncle, Leon Rosenberg, who was an engineer at Allis Chalmers in Wisconsin, was the first recipient of the Nikola Tesla Award. A very proud moment for him and for the whole Rosenberg family, with their difficult and humble begnnings in the United States.

We have several books in the library about Tesla and there is always someone inquiring about them, so there appears to be an on going fascination with the man.

That is quite the honour for your family Carrie, checking the wiki there is no informatoin/article on your uncle, maybe you could write one! I know you wrote a lovely song about those humble beginnings.

Tesla was the man! I enjoyed hearing about how he broke up his
death ray plans, giving one piece to a different government, so no
one country could have such a powerful weapon alone.

Also interesting was how closely the movie The Prestige followed
Tesla’s research in Colorado Springs at the time.

My daughter was just telling methis morning to get a look at this Singing Tesla Coil…

I enjoyed The Prestige … also wondered about the accuracy…

WOW!!!

My interest in him came from reading a book I bought for my dad, who was interested in all things electric (that was his job in the coal mines, electrical maintenance). I knew he’d be fascinated and he was. He got me to read it after he finished and I was hooked.

To honour Tesla 1 tesla is the SI unit for magnetic flux density.

1 tesla=1Wb/m^2
(1 Wb= 1Vs)

Shouldn’t Troy Hurtubise get the award for his angel light?

All these mad cap inventors… If the device can see thrugh walls, why don´t he show it in the pictures? It´s like cold fusion (Ponsman and Fleiss), no one else could repeat the experiment. Angel light - interesting idea though!

The last I heard (over a year ago, now) the US Canadian military were looking at this. There was a great deal of concern about the high levels of electromagnetic energy pulsed back at the operators of the device.
