Newbies first recorded tune

Don´t know how fun this would be for you to check out, but maybe it can serve as some kind of “inspiration” for other newbies.

It´s a simple tune I came up with myself.
Recording was done in mono with a Röde Tube Mic. in omnipolar mode. No EQ, only some reverb added in Cubase.

I use a Clarke D, slightly tweaked. This is my favourite, but I also have (and like) Clarke C, Walton C and D and Gen. F.

Only been whistling for 3-4 weeks or so, don´t forget that

Hi Pan,

Congratulations! That’s way better than I sounded after 4 months, let alone 4 weeks, and your own composition too!

Keep up the good work!

Martin

Wow, I need some of that Swedish water, or whatever it is that makes you Scandinavian types so good at the arts…

Bravo con gusto!!!

Very well done. Just imagine where you’ll be in another four weeks! Hope to hear more from you soon!!!

Kevin

Great job!

Would we expect less from one who’s name mirror’s that of the ancient god who whistles?

Keep up the outstanding work and have fun!

Wow…blows me out of the water. I think we’ve been playing for about the same amount of time. I can just barely snag grace notes, let alone write my own piece and add ornamentation to that  Good job!

Jim

Thanks for the kind words,
this certainly have given me some confidence to keep posting tunes in the future

I have a confession to make :-/ I have been playing the guitar on and off for 10 years, and sing some as well. I guess this helps as my fingers are reasonably well trained and coordinated.

Even though most people probably would want to kill me when I sing, I guess I have developed some kind of breathing technique as well.

Oh… one more thing the crowd now begins to throw rocks at Pan I have played around with harmonica, panpipes, zamponas… even a quena… havent been able to play anything succesfully on these though, only a tune or two. But I guess some breathing/blowing skills have come from it.

I´m really happy I started with the whistle, first I searched the net for a wooden flute in D, some maker suggested a whistle as a start and i thought that was a good idea when I understood how cheap the whistles were.

Do you think I´m satisfied with my cheap whistles??? well… both yes and no. I can say as much as this; Order is layed for Copeland high and low D as well as A and D from Abell (in blackwood). Knowing myself I guess I will own a “real” Irish-keyless-D-Flute in a year or so as well.

All for now folks, have to go eat something!
