Newbie which whistle

For a new whistler, I highly recommend the Dixon tunable soprano or regular D whistle. Easy to play and less likely to clog. Smaller tone holes make it easier initially to get good seals. The hemispherical windway has a greater height for the volume which reduces clogging with out greatly increasing wind requirements. Volume is moderate which for new players, can lower anxiety, you won’t feel like your drowning other (better) players out. Price runs 25-30 dollar and available with little if any wait.

I wish this had been my first whistle.

Regardless which you choose just remember, in the end it how you …

For a beginner, I’d suggest Generations…I just bought the complete set of nickle Generations from Elderly (Bb, C, D, Eb, F and G) and amazingly enough they’re all pretty decent. Other than that, you might try a Sweetone.

Get a Sweetone… inexpensive, easy to play, friendly. I would say “get a Parkhurst” but Dale would whack me over the head for such blatant commercialism, and I’m backordered anyway. But you should go ahead and get on Copeland’s and O’Riordan’s lists now…join us, Luke… it is your destiny…

Hey, everyone I really appreciate all the help. I have read all the post, and still would love to get everyones input. I had a very very very cheap wood whistle, that I got from Taiwan. I was a Star Trek fan and wanted to play that song Picard plays with his whislte. Well its for one octave only. :frowning: But I love to play it, so I figure I would go ahead and get another one. Thanks, and keep up the post.
