What would people suggest as some good basic ITM tunes to start learning with?
Blackthorn stick, boys of bluehill, kesh jig, my darling asleep…for a start.
I think that most of the Children’s songs are good for a beginer. Im finding some complicated songs that are keeping me quite busy. Check out this great site:

Such a great wealth of free sheet music to practice with. Many songs have MP3 files with them to help you. I just found the site today.

Reel: The Keel Row
Polkas: Britches full of Stitches, Kerry Polka, Egan’s Polka
The first four are so common you have probably already have heard them many times, so they’ll be easy to pick up. The Polkas are simpler (fewer notes to learn) but with a real swing to them.

“Road to Lisdoonvarna” was a pretty easy one for me to pick up.
All of the above are great recommendations to a newbie.
Now, if I may wander off the point for a moment…,
Martins avatar has been bugging me since I first saw it.
I recognise the face but cannot for the life of me,put a name to it-you know the feeling.
Now I’m going demented ( not far to go,some would say) trying to figure out who J & W are.

Martin, don’t you think Irish Washerwoman is a little tough for a newbie? Those Cnat to B switches were tough for me when I was really new. Just curious.

Anything for John Joe

Rolling in the Rye Grass
Also, you have to learn Danny Boy so you get it out of your system.
