Well, it’s been a bit since I last posted.
I quite like the Feadog. It’s louder than the Meg and LBW I got, and by now I’m getting used to the breath control, and so when I go to play the Meg or LBW I tend to overblow. The Meg is pretty touchy about that. Not much of a jump from 1st D to second.
I still may get a Whitecap for my Feadog.
How do you keep the brass from tarnishing?
I also notice that after a short while of playing or practicing, I think moisture builds up and low D and E are impossible to get right and maintaining enough pressure for the upper octave gets tough too.
How do you prevent or at least work around moisture buildup?
I’m able to play Amazing Grace w/o the music. I can also play Danny Boy without too much trouble, and of course things like Silent Night and Bheir Me O. I’ve learnt “King of Love My Shepherd Is”.
I’m still learning to read music, and because of my hearing problem, I may have a hard time learning by ear.
I’m currently working on Suo Gan, which is a sweet Welsh lullaby with an almost wistful, haunting air. Charlotte Church sings an excellent version, and Nana Mouskouri sings it in both Welsh and English.
