I just really started playing the whistle about 5 days ago. A friend bought me one on his trip to Ireland. I have a fairly good musical backround (6 years of trombone, guitar) so I am picking it up quickly. I can play a few Irish tunes that I am familar with, (Wild Rover, I’ll Tell Me Ma, Whiskey in the Jar, etc.) and I was wondering if anyone could recommend some fairly easy, yet fun to play songs I could work on. Anything that I could get a recording of would be even better.
You might check out Clips and Snips. It has MP3s of C&F members tooting away on various whistles. Here’s the Link:

I like this site:

I like it that I can get a midi file to get the jist of how a tune is supposed to sound or to remind me.
I don’t always play it just the way the midi sounds though…like Be Thou My Vision, I play it much slower. But supposedly that’s “OK” with this kind of music.
I just started about 2 months ago (I played flute when I was in junior high, but it was about 25 years ago…probably doesn’t count anymore!) I am hooked, I tell ya. Hooked.

You also might want to try Sessioneer (www.sessioneer.com), or Bro. Steve’s page (can’t remember the URL…)…
