Hello, I have always been entranced by the sounds of celtic music, especially the whistles. Being of celtic descent, I would love be able to play for my grandmother one of her favourite sounds. The whistle used in the music of " The Corrs" has always been my favourite, however I do not know what type of whistle this is!! If anyone knows it would be greatly appreciated if you would share this with me!

The Corrs play pop/rock music.The whistle Andrea uses is usually a Waltonâs LBW (Little Black Whistle) available from the whistle shop at http://www.thewhistleshop.com, for, I think, $5. Iâd also reccomed you pick up a Clarke book while youâre there (written by Bill Ochs).
Although, I have seen Andrea Corr recently play a Waltons Brass C whistle, and pictures of her playing what was clearly a Generation, although Iâm not sure what key.

Iâll second Cranberryâs suggestion for Bill Ochâs Clarke Tin Whistle book/CD combo. Make sure it has the CD. Very, very wise investment.
Iâm not too keen on the LBW. Iâm sure the one Andrea plays has probably been modified (aka âtweekedâ) to some extent or she just got her hands a really good one or mine just happens to be a bad one. Who knows. Perhaps if I took the time to tweak I may like it. I do love my Clarke Sweettone, however.
AnywayâŚWelcome to the forum! Enjoy the whistleâŚalways. Iâve been at it for about a year and have loved almost every minute of it. There will be a time or two youâll want to throw you whistle up against the wall and never play it again. But you will play it and you will be good. At least thatâs what I keep telling myself. Iâll let you know if it ever comes to pass.

Welcome, and may it be the start of a long obsession .
The Corrs (God bless 'em) are regarded by many of us as one of the main gateway drugs for tin whistle and especially Irish traditional music. But donât be put off by any knocking of them, we just envy them or their partners as appropriate on account of their looks rather than the lovely Andreaâs whistle playing, which is just about OK.
She appears in a film about a traditional music competition which is due to be released shortly, so no doubt there will be a renewal of interest.

normally at this stage of a thread like this, we should have the first photos of the sylph-like ones appearing. Whatâs happened this place?
