New to the flute

After having played the whistle for 3 years I now like to learn the flute.
The passed couple of weeks / months I’ve done research on this side and last thursday I ordered an M & E.

Got an email from Michael that my flute is on it’s way. I’m really excited, can’t wait.

Berti, thanks for your advice and helping me to choose a suitable flute.

Please tell us how its going. Jim

Have fun Rini!

I’ve been playing flute for a year now. I wish I could say every day for a year. Hope your new flute will be an inspiration and provide you with a good focus for your music.

Well, the postman came this morning and brought my M & E !! It sure looks lovely, I ordered rings with it, so it really is beautiful.

I tried it and hadn’t expected to get a sound out of it, as I’m a compleet newbie, but I did! Just ran through the scales up and down and only the lower octave, but still. The only flute I’ve ever tried was Berti’s Dixon and couldn’t get a sound out of it, so I expect the M & E is easier for a beginner.

The holesize is no problem, they are smaller than my Kerry Low D whistle, so I think I’ll be able to manage that.

The package also contained a flute tutor-cd ( thanks Michael! ), so I can start practising immediately.

I think this is going to be lots of fun!

COOL rini that you can play the full scale right away…what an start it is…the flute looked beautiful indeed and I bet you will be over your “dip” now? GRINNNN

Congrats! I have the same type of flute and won’t part with it. The beauty is that you will get a lot more practice time than you would with a new wooden flute b/c you don;t have to take it apart.

Don’t overdo it at first!

Yes, the M&E is a pretty easy beginners flutes, but it will still grow on you for years to come. They are marvelous flutes. Easy to play, and still with loads of potential.
If you’ve been here more than a few days you have probably noticed my constant raving about M&E flutes already
I really do love them.
Have a great time playing and best of luck!
