I got a lovely new Sweetheart Pro today. Redwolf did a great review of it recently. I agree 100%. Having only played lower end whistles, this is a pleasant surprise. Great across both octaves, plenty of volume, and pretty to boot. It may just be the excitement, but I’m playing better on this whistle than I’ve ever played before.
So: the big question is, should my next whistle be a Busman?

I almost got his pro whistle in the laminate Dymondwood recently. However, I was fortunate enough to fall inside his waiting list for a batch of blackwood whistles with three keys. It’s fabulous; I concur with the positive reviews here. I went ahead and got a matching fife head, and now I’m really having fun!
Next? Go for a Chris Abell whistle. Beautifully made in blackwood and silver with a tuning slide. Plus, Mr. Abell is happy to add any extra holes you might want (a Cn thumb hole; a low Cn hole below D).
My “next” is an Abell in pink ivorywood (like on the cover of Grey Larsen’s Essential Guide, but without the expense of the rose gold fittings) and silver with holes for low Cn, Fn, and Bb.
